The article highlighted as a reminder to us all to be truly thankful for what we have TODAY. That is learn to be grateful and content with the here and now and not postpone allowing ourselves to feel happy until such and such happens, or we get such and such because there are no certainties in life. And, we all have things and people in our lives now which are true blessings.
I am very thankful for where I live. I have lived in Kirkcaldy for 2 years and am still to this day astonished at the SCALE of the charitable works and efforts here I see everywhere I go! The towns people are so organised and pro-active and really do care about their town and our people in it. They rally round whoever is in need and it is just lovely. Two ministers have recently set up a food bank and the folks here are straight in to help and donate even my pensioner neighbour donating tins. People take a pride in this and also volunteering and giving even although money is tight for a lot of us. The council workers keep the place very well tended, the schools staff care so much for the kids and the council departments are well run. People are friendly and there is a very strong team spirit here. The people of Kirkcaldy though see themselves as Fifers as in a wider community.
Lord, I thank You that I live in such a caring and giving place where people strive and seek to look after one another and take a real pride in our town. Just as we folk in Kirkcaldy see ourselves as Fifers, You see us and our actions as part of the worldwide family as that is what we are so help us to realise this!.
I know that what we have here is very pleasing to You and it is good to be a part of it. Thank You for this. Amen.
