In some places, they believe and teach the kids that it is 'good witches' who leave the gift. Some leave out slippers to get filled with presents and some put shoes outside as the custom of the culture. Interesting to learn. Some celebrate Christmas on different dates throughout December and that surprised me to find that out just because I didn't know of such things.
My daughter recently asked me WHY we give presents at all.
In our nation, we still tell the kids that Santa Claus and his elves come through the skies on his sledge with the renowned reindeer - and they love it and so do we adults enjoying their excitement!
Much of international cultures for Christmas originated from ....coca cola! The colour red, interesting to know.
The reason for Christmas is that Jesus Christ was born. The King was born on Christmas Day - was it the 25th? I don't know but it would have been then or a few days around it that I do know. The Light of the World was born for all mankind. The 3 wise men were called by God to go thousands of miles to see and witness his birth and also give Him presents of gold, frankinsnece and myhrr. And that is where the worldwide traditions came from of giving gifts. Because God gave us the gift of all and for all. Don't think I spelled frankinsence right but the spacing has gone again oops a daisies.
These three wise men - Kings of their own countries - had been given words and visions but had never met each other nor known each other. But, God compelled them to set out to travel through many miles and many dangers and they met up - at the same time in the same place just outside Bethlehem. They were staggered at God's power to get them together and matched together their pieces of God's wisdom and foreknowledge given t each and were stunned. They didn't know where to go - so God made and shone the brightest start to lead them to the place of his birthplace - the stable. They found this baby boy in a manger and His parents - Mary and Joseph - then had it confirmed again that this child, the Christ child, had been born.
Shepherds in the locale - out tending their sheep - collapsed in fear at first for the presence of the Lord Himself came to them through mighty angelic manifestation. They were told to get up and go the stable...so that they were also witnessers to the divine birth. The Christ Child was born not even in a room or an inn(hotel) but sent by God to show Their humililty and great love for all mankind.
The reason for this sacred season is the birth and life of jesus Christ of Nazareth who lives, reins and rules all over the world to this day and always will - for this was and still is God's will. he is set to return to finalise His divine dominion won during His life and at the cross and then resurrection. Evil will be wiped out forever and a new covenant set up from out in Jerusalem, the Holy City.
I AM a wise woman living in God's love and wisdom of His ways. i want as God does - nothing but good for people and know that He is the good and great god OF OURS! Would I walk 500 miles to get to Him? Yes, I would. I will go where HE sendsme for He is my head and in command of me, Jesus Christ from my Father. I will do as He tells me and he only. I would follow Him to the ends of the earth and willingly. I say what he tells me to and know that what he says works - it carries power and always works out. What could I offer Him in return for the gift He is? What he wants or would like. Happily. He is my Husband and so is in charge of me and my household - just as it is written should be. Christ is the Head of all homes following the chain of command from God Our Father overall and that is how He wants it and needs it for His ways, wise, work. Thank You I surrender to the Saviour, alike though we are, he is still in charge. Amen.
God, the conception of Christ was miraculous - Mary a virgin, impregnated by the Holy Spirit and 6 months of a difference before the pregnancy and birth of John the Baptist. These two men would meet and be central to the gospel. Baptised by John, the importance of this covenant, holy sacrament, of baptism is still pleasing to You, God and the beginning of a new commitment in a new life, just as Jesus came to give in His abundant blessings. Thank You that Our God lives; Our Saviour, THE MESSIAH. will come back again, but next time in His full Glory lighting up the skies of the world heralding His triumphant return and reign. Thank You, Light of Our World. Amen.
