Isn't it wonderful that our spiritual food goes in and comes out in different ways; good for us and others. We exercise our spiritual muscles and walk in His ways as best we can some days better than others: result - good for our health and well-being.
The same can't though be said for the real food that goes in - if we are not using up the excess calories and not exercising then what we take in shows on the outside. Excess calories are stored as fat and when at a clinically obese level - BMI 25+ - this harms us from the inside out. I realise there are many reasons for weight gain and that I am one who is blessed with health and mobility and so I can get out and walk, my preferred exercise.
I am tall and therefore can't always find clothes and shoes as easily as others. I met a woman the other day who has the same finding problem - because she is a size 28. I do not know if there is a medical reason for this but there is medical reasons for hanging onto it. I met this lady and her young daughter and I was stunned to hear that the girl can't get to the beach - 20 or so minutes walk away- because the mum is unfit for this. I was sad to hear this. Exercise GIVES more energy.
Father, I pray that now that the summer is here, more of us who can get out and walk do so for it is relaxing and a healthy form of exercise. Just as You keep us spiritually fit; You ask us to help ourselves keep physically as fit as we can be. One hour a day for kids and 30 mins a day over 5 days for adults. Help us feel the draw of the outside under Your sun. Good for our physical health, psychological health and emotional health. Thank You that You care for our bodies too. Amen.
