I have been reading people praising the many good and caring experiences they have had and it is good and healthy to be thankful.
However, my heart sinks when I read or hear of stories and acccounts where it has gone wrong or poorly or people have and are SUFFERING because of 'care'.
One surgeon reported has blighted the lives of so many people with inadequate skills and attitude. But, seems to come under the 'protection' around and has been deemed FIT to have his hands on a scalpel albeit under supervision. Been reportings of this particular surgeon since 1995 so WHY has all of this been allowed to continue? Do the governing authorities care more about this man's professional position(or any medic) or people? In any workplace, not to mention lives in their hands!, if you are not fit for the job it is NOTICED and then action taken. You don't need a panel of non medical staff, in this case, to judge the man unfit to operate. Non medical staff deciding on a surgeon's ability?! How very insulting to those affected and in pain with their lives that will never be the same again post op.
My local hospital has been in the papers again with cited serious failings with deaths and record number of complaints. I cringe every time I read these reports because I know that there are and have been for a very long time serious symptoms reported about hospital care nationwide. Do the MPS, MSPS and Ministers not read these? Are they completely oblivious to the failings? You don't need a focus group to see what needs focusing on. LISTEN to the staff please and look again at how hospitals USED to be run and get that system back in operation and carry on nursing with matron and rules and supervision and patient led care. Standards have fallen and administration and targets have not helped anyone. *Government Health Minister you have your work cut out for you and please do listen and act because the department you are running is unfit for purpose and struggling to cope. The symptoms aren't anything new, they have been here long term so the time to do something about it is here and now. The vast majority of nurses and doctors are wonderful but this culture and mismanagement is causing low morale and low standards which has the knock on effect on patients. Please turn this boat around *sir because otherwise it is cruising into chaos.
