You, Bill, are a man frequently quoted citing love and have had made public your vast amount of relationships with women. That is your choice; abuse is not their choice. Abuse is not love. It is a violation of mind, body, trust and results in considerable suffering, mental ill health, relationship difficulties, physical and psychosomatic problems, addictions and much else and leaves children, men and women feeling shameful and degraded. The shame IS NOT theirs nor is being targeted for abuse connected in any way to past sin.
Abuse is categorised into sexual, physical, emotional and psychological. Neglect can be physical, emotional even medical.
Complex and many reasons why people abuse. Abuse is wrong though that is simple.
Bill's argument for retribution is flawed. But, make no mistake, unless true and heartfelt repentance by abusers is sought from Jesus Christ, their past (or present) sin will affect their future life and also eternal life. That is their choice and their consequences.
For those affected by this:
'And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverance character and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us' May these words recorded for us in Romans 5;3 bless you into His peace giving you comfort and strength and hope.
For those who have and are abusing or neglecting;
'You must turn from evil and do good...the face of the Lord is against those who do evil' 1 Peter 3;11-12 and also 'For I know my transgressions and my sin is before me. Against You, You only I have sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You are proved right when You speak and justified when You judge' Psalm 51 (lamenting sin). I also suggest you access my Prayer section and take the Lord's prayer to Him as a matter of urgency relevant to your life now and life to come after Christ's return. May you turn to the Lord in sobbing repentance because you do not know what you have done. The Lord have mercy on you according to His will and grace. Amen.
Update; Bill has yesterday updated his comments. Praise be to God for his conviction and Bill's statement of apology and retraction. It reminds us that we must all pay attention to what we say and God knows we can struggle so He tells us to ask Him in prayer to 'Set a guard, o Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!' Psalm 141;3. This is something we all need help with and God knows it. Our words have impact and like a self fulfilling prophecy can affect us and others. But, with God's daily guidance and assistance 'A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold on settings of silver' Proverbs 25;11 precious words. Just like the apple, the fruits of His Spirit (character) are there for us to take and give.
